Closures Planned for Beltline Widening Project This Week

RALEIGH — N.C. Department of Transportation crews are planning overnight closures this week as a part of the Interstate 440 Improvements Project.

From 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday until 6 a.m. the next day, I-440 West/U.S. 1 South will close at Jones Franklin Road (Exit 1C) to allow crews to set the girders for the new Jones Franklin Road bridge over the Beltline. The new bridge is being constructed just west of the existing structure.

Drivers will take Exit 1C, turn left onto Jones Franklin Road and right onto Dillard Drive and Walnut Street to get back to U.S. 1 to continue south or to head north to access I-40.

All work is weather dependent and rain dates are planned for the following night.

Motorists need to pay attention near these work zones and anticipate needing extra time for the detour.
