(NOTE: This work did not occur last night because of rain and has been rescheduled for tonight.)
MORRISVILLE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will continue final paving work tonight on the project to improve the Interstate 40 interchange at Aviation Parkway.
At 7 p.m., crews will close the ramp from I-40 East to Aviation Parkway (Exit 285) and the ramp from northbound Aviation Parkway to I-40 East as the northbound lanes of Aviation Parkway are paved at the top of the ramps.
During the closure, message boards will direct drivers to Airport Boulevard to exit and access I-40 East.
The ramps and all travel lanes should reopen by 6 a.m. tomorrow.
Following completion of this work, all lanes of Aviation Parkway from National Guard Drive to just south of Gateway Centre Boulevard and the entrance to Lake Crabtree Park and the ramps at the Aviation Parkway/I-40 interchange will have the final driving surfaced installed.
Final paving of I-40 West between the Aviation Parkway and Airport Boulevard interchanges is tentatively scheduled to begin April 9.
