Johnston County Resurfacing Project Requires Lane Closure

CLAYTON – Drivers will encounter lane closures this month while contract crews mill, resurface and restripe North O'Neil Street and Covered Bridge Road.

The contractor plans to reduce the two well-traveled roads in Johnston County into a one-way traffic pattern through April 30, starting Tuesday. Drivers will encounter workers with stop signs and flags that allow only one direction of traffic to proceed at a time.

The lane closures will occur between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., primarily on weekdays. But lane closures could be implemented on the weekends, if there is a lot of inclement weather.

Motorists should slow down, expect delays and be alert for workers while traveling through both work zones.

The scope of work affects the entirety of North O'Neil Street and also Covered Bridge Road from North O'Neil Street to Thanksgiving Fire Road just east of Archer Lodge.
