Nightly Lane Closures Upcoming for I-40 Rehab Project

WINSTON-SALEM – Nightly lane closures are scheduled over the next week so crews can safely work on the Interstate 40 pavement rehabilitation and bridge preservation project in Forsyth County.

The work and associated lane closures are set to take place between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. The schedule, which is weather dependent and subject to change, is as follows:

Sunday and Monday nights, the contractor plans to close two of three lanes of I-40 East from west of Stratford Road (Exit 189) to just past Peters Creek Parkway (Exit 192).

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, the contractor plans to close one of three lanes of I-40 East from just west of Union Cross Road (Exit 200) to the Guilford County line and two of three lanes of I-40 West from Hanes Mall Boulevard (Exit 190) to the U.S. 421 interchange (Exit 188).

Also on Wednesday night, the contractor is set to close a single lane of I-40 East near the U.S. 421 interchange (mile markers 187-188).

Drivers should slow down, pay attention to posted signage and watch for crews working near the travel lanes in these work zones.
