Multiple Closures on I-40 in Forsyth County Set for Next Week

WINSTON-SALEM - Starting this weekend, contract crews will have several nightly closures for the ongoing improvement project along Interstate 40 in Forsyth County.

Weather permitting, the following nightly lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to allow crews to perform pavement rehabilitation:

  • On July 25, two of three lanes on I-40 West will be closed from east of Peter’s Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 192) to west of Stratford Road (Mile Marker 189);
  • From July 26-27, one of three lanes on I-40 West will be closed from east of Peter’s Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 192) to west of Peter’s Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 191);
  • On July 25, one of three lanes will be closed on I-40 East from west of Peter’s Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 191) to just east of Peter’s Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 192); and
  • From July 26-29, two of three lanes of I-40 East will be closed from west of Stratford Road (Mile Marker 188) to east of Peter’s Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 192).

In addition to the lane closures, on July 25, the ramp onto I-40 West from Stratford Road will be closed to perform preservation work on the bridge near the end of the ramp. A signed detour directing traffic from Stratford Road to Silas Creek Parkway and U.S. 421 North will be in place nightly.

Motorists should plan accordingly for delays and use caution while traveling through the work zone.​
