NEWTON GROVE – The Godwin Lake Road bridge over John K. Swamp near the Johnston-Sampson county border is scheduled to close Monday for construction.
An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will replace the 70-year-old bridge with a modern structure. The road and new bridge are scheduled to reopen by year’s end. The closure will begin after 7 a.m.
A detour will send drivers along N.C. 50 and N.C. 96 to bypass the closed site. People taking the detour should anticipate a longer commute.
