Safety Improvements Coming to Orange County Junction

ORANGE COUNTY – A local intersection will be revised this week in response to a recent traffic safety study.

The junction of Mt. Willing Road and Buckhorn Road in southwest Orange County was identified for improvements through the N.C. Department of Transportation's SPOT Safety Program.

Currently only traffic on Mt. Willing Road is directed to stop at this intersection. On Wednesday, NCDOT and contract crews will add signage and striping to create the all-way stop. The work is set to begin at 8 a.m. and should be complete by mid-afternoon, weather permitting.

A flagging operation will help drivers pass through the intersection while the work is taking place.

Drivers should keep an eye out for the crews working at this intersection on Wednesday and prepare for the new traffic design.

Learn more about the benefits of all-way stops on the N.C. Department of Transportation's safety and mobility webpage.
