POSTPONED: Beltline Traffic to Shift to New Bridge over Wade Avenue

**UPDATE: This work has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

RALEIGH — N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews are planning a series of closures on Sunday night in preparation to shift Interstate 440 East traffic to a new bridge over Wade Avenue as a part of the I-440 Improvements Project.

At 9 p.m. Sunday, the right lane of I-440 East will close from the Hillsborough Street interchange (Exit 3) to Reedy Creek Trail bridge over I-440 just north of Wade Avenue (Exit 4).

At midnight, the loop from eastbound Wade Avenue to I-440 East will be closed. During this closure, drivers will be detoured to Ridge Road and Lake Boone Trail to access I-440 East.

These closures are needed to allow crews to safely complete asphalt paving, pavement marking, and barrier wall relocation operations as part of the shift.

All closures will be removed and traffic will be using the new bridge by 5 a.m. Monday, in time for the morning commute.

Motorists should slow down and pay attention throughout the work zone, particularly as they get used to the new driving pattern at the Wade Avenue interchange.
