Overnight Lane Closures on I-40 in Forsyth County Begin Next Week

WINSTON-SALEM – Starting early next week, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close lanes of Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.

The following lane closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

  • On Feb. 14, two of three lanes on I-40 East will be closed from west of Peters Creek Parkway to east of Peters Creek Parkway.
  • From Feb. 15-17, two of three lanes on I-40 West will be closed from west of U.S. 52 to west of Peters Creek Parkway.

The following lane closures are scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.

  • On Feb. 14, two of three lanes on the southbound Union Cross Road bridge over I-40 will be closed.
  • On Feb. 17, the two southbound lanes of the Stratford Road bridge over I-40 will be shifted toward the center of the bridge to allow construction crews to safely perform preservation work in the two right southbound lanes.

Motorists should remain cautious when approaching the work zones and expect delays.
