SPRING LAKE – Elliott Bridge Road over the Little River requires a temporary closure to allow the state Transportation Department to perform preventative maintenance to the bridge.
Departmental employees plan to close the bridge, which straddles the Cumberland-Harnett county line northeast Spring Lake, at 8 a.m. Monday. The road is expected to reopen by March 11.
The marked detour will send drivers onto Shady Grove, McCormick and Johnson Farm roads. Drivers should approach the work zone cautiously and expect a longer commute using the detour.
During the closure, crews will remove steel girder beam end sections, replace some of the steel and repaint the girders, which are underneath the driving deck.
