WINSTON-SALEM – Starting this weekend into the following week, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close lanes of Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.
The following lane closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:
- On Feb. 27, two of three lanes of I-40 East will be closed from the I-40/US 421 split to Peters Creek Parkway.
- On Feb. 28, one of two lanes of I-40 East will be closed from west of Highway 66 to east of Highway 66.
- On March 1, one of two lanes of I-40 West will be closed from east of Highway 66 to west of Highway 66.
- On March 2, one of two lanes of I-40 West will be closed from west of Highway 52 to west of Peters Creek Parkway.
- On March 3, two of three lanes of I-40 East will closed from the I-40/U.S. 421 split to Peters Creek Parkway.
The following ramp closures are scheduled to take place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:
- On Feb. 27, the ramp from I-40 East to Stratford Road will be closed with a signed detour.
- On Feb. 28, the ramp from I-40 East to Highway 66 (Exit 203) will be closed with a signed detour.
- On March 1, the ramp from I-40 West to Highway 66 (Exit 203) will be closed with a signed detour. The ramp from Highway 66 to I-40 West will also be closed with a signed detour.
- On March 2, the ramp from I-40 West to Peters Creek Parkway (Exit 192) will be closed with a signed detour.
- On March 3, the ramp from Hanes Mall Boulevard to I-40 East will be closed with a signed detour.
Motorists should remain cautious when approaching the work zones and expect delays.
