NEWTON – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will install a detour on a road in Catawba County as part of the N.C. 16 widening project next week.
Beginning March 14, a detour will shift traffic from Coley Fish Pond Road to N.C. 16, between Leonard Avenue and Bethany Church Road, weather permitting. The shift is necessary for crews to change the alignment of the road, which will involve removing part of the existing road and replacing it near the intersection at N.C. 16. Work is expected to be complete by May 13.
Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution while on the detour.
