HENDERSONVILLE – A series of nightly closures is returning to Interstate 26 this week.
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of I-26 in Henderson County on four consecutive nights starting tonight.
Crews will utilize the closures to repair sections of asphalt, move safety barrier walls and prepare for an upcoming traffic shift from U.S. 25 Business to Cane Creek.
• Tuesday night: I-26 West closed from U.S. 25 Business to Airport Road.
• Wednesday night: Lane closures only.
• Thursday night: I-26 East closed from Airport Road to U.S. 25 Business.
Starting around 8 p.m. each night, drivers will be directed to the detours which utilize Airport Road and Hendersonville Road (U.S. 25 Business).
Traffic signals will remain green longer on these routes to allow for movement of additional traffic. The interstate should reopen by 6 a.m. each of the following mornings.
Transportation officials advise drivers to plan ahead for the detour, remain alert at all times and obey all posted traffic signs.
