Closures Starting Tonight on I-40 in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – Starting tonight, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close lanes of Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • From Tuesday through Thursday, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from east of Hanes Mall Boulevard to west of U.S. 52.
  • On Tuesday and Wednesday, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from east of Lewisville Clemmons Road to west of McGregor Road.
  • On Thursday, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from east of McGregor Road to east of Lewisville Clemmons Road.

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:

  • On Tuesday, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on Stratford Road in the northbound direction, the closure will be located on the Stratford Road bridge that crosses over I-40. On Wednesday, one of two lanes in both directions will be closed on this bridge.
  • On Tuesday through Thursday, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on the Peters Creek bridge over I-40 in the northbound direction.
  • On Tuesday, the ramps from Peters Creek Parkway to I-40 East and I-40 West are scheduled to be closed simultaneously. A signed detour will be in place directing traffic to Silas Creek Parkway to return to I-40 East and Silas Creek Parkway, I-40 East and U.S. 52 to return to I-40 West.
  • On Wednesday, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on Hanes Mall Boulevard below I-40 in both the northbound and southbound directions; on Thursday only one southbound lane will be closed.
  • On Wednesday and Thursday, the ramp from Silas Creek Parkway to I-40 East is scheduled to be closed. A signed detour will be in place directing traffic to Peters Creek Parkway to access I-40 East.
Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone and plan accordingly for delays.
