MT. PLEASANT —N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews are preparing to replace a bridge in Cabarrus County. The $585,284 contract was awarded to APAC Atlantic, Inc. in March.
A segment of South Lentz Harness Shop Road will close starting May 19 so crews can replace the bridge over Little Bear Creek. Engineers anticipate completing the construction by December, with vegetation establishment continuing through June 2023.
The 62-year-old bridge has reached the end of its functional lifespan and will be replaced with a structure that meets currents standards and demands.
A marked detour directs drivers to utilize N.C. 73, Finger Road and Bear Creek Church Road if heading north, or those roads in reverse if travelling south.
