I-85 Improvements Upcoming in Davidson, Randolph Counties

RALEIGH – A project to extend the life of pavement and bridges along a stretch of Interstate 85 near the Davidson-Randolph county line will soon begin.

Blythe Construction Inc. will rehabilitate the pavement and bridges along nearly 8 miles of the interstate between N.C. 109 in Thomasville and South Main Street in Archdale under a $13.4 million contract recently awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation.

The work can begin as early as June and is scheduled to be complete by fall 2023.

Lane closures are required to carry out this work safely, so drivers should prepare for temporary traffic patterns and be on the lookout for crews that will be working alongside the open travel lanes.
