Road Resurfacing Upcoming in Richmond County

RALEIGH – Several sections of highways and other roads in Richmond County will be revamped through an upcoming resurfacing project.

Crews will mill and resurface the travel lanes and reconstruct shoulders along 21 miles of roadway: five sections of U.S. 74 Business, four sections of U.S. 1 and four sections of secondary roads. The East Rockingham Fire Department parking lots will also be resurfaced as part of the project.

Barnhill Contracting was awarded the $5.3 million contract. They can begin work as early as June 1 and are scheduled to complete the work by next summer.

Drivers can expect to find lane closures in the areas where the work is taking place, and should watch out for the crews as they will be working close to the travel lanes.
