South Carolina Project Could Impact Gaston County Travel

​GASTONIA – Motorists in Gaston County could be affected by an upcoming maintenance project by the S.C. Department of Transportation.

Starting May 23, the SCDOT will be closing a portion of Grandview Road near the North Carolina state border while its crews repair a drainage pipe. SCDOT is coordinating with the N.C. Department of Transportation on a detour that extends into Gaston County.

Traffic will be detoured to Henry Knob Road, Unity Church Road, Crowders Creek Road and Sparrow Springs Road to return to Grandview Road.

Work is expected to be complete by July 1.

Drivers in the area may experience delays with increased traffic volumes due to the detour and should plan accordingly.
