RALEIGH – State transportation contractors plan to install overnight lane closures on U.S. 1 to investigate soil conditions for the future project to improve the highway north of Raleigh.
The left lane of southbound U.S. 1 is scheduled to closed between Thornton Road and Interstate 540 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights starting Wednesday evening. These closures are expected to continue over the next couple weeks, but will be removed for the weekends.
Drivers should slow down when approaching Thornton Road on U.S. 1 South, anticipate the possibility of slight delays, and be mindful of crews that will be working close to the travel lanes.
