Drainage Repairs Start at U.S. 25 Interchange

HENDERSONVILLE – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation began a significant drainage project at the Interstate 26/U.S. 25 interchange in southern Henderson County today.

The project requires periodic overnight lane closures on I-26 and U.S. 25, depending on the task of the night. The contractor, NHM Construction of Asheville, may close one lane no earlier than 7 p.m. during the week and no earlier than 9 p.m. on the weekends with all closures removed by 6 a.m.

This $2.2 million drainage project will repair recurring issues in the area. NHM will bore new pipes and install additional structures in the area including a new pipe under the interstate. The contract calls for completion of the project by Thanksgiving.

Drivers should obey all posted signs, reduce speed and remain alert when approaching and driving through work zones.
