Rehabilitation Project Continues on I-40 in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close lanes on Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for several nights this week for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • On June 21, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from east of Peters Creek Parkway to Hanes Mall Boulevard.
  • On June 21, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from west of Peters Creek Parkway to east of Peters Creek Parkway.
  • On June 21, one of two lanes will be closed in both the northbound and southbound directions on the Highway 66 bridge that crosses I-40.
  • On June 22-23, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from Peters Creek Parkway to west of Stratford Road.
  • On June 22 -23, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from east of Hanes Mall Boulevard to east of Peters Creek Parkway.
  • On June 22-23, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from Union Cross Road to the Guilford County Line.

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:

  • On June 21, the ramp from Peters Creek Parkway to I-40 West is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.
  • On June 21-22, the ramp from I-40 West to Hanes Mall Boulevard is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.
  • On June 22-23, the ramp from I-40 East to Highway 66 is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.
  • On June 22-23, the ramp from Highway 66 to I-40 East is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.
  • On June 23, the ramp from I-40 West to Stratford Road is scheduled to be closed from a signed detour.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone and plan accordingly for delays.​
