Improvements on I-40 Scheduled in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close lanes on Interstate 40 in Forsyth County tonight and next week for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.

The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:
  • Tonight, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from the Guilford County line to west of Highway 66.
  • Tonight and July 10-11, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from U.S. 52 to west of Peters Creek Parkway.
  • On July 10-11, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from the Guilford County line to Union Cross Road.
  • On July 12, one of two lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from east of Highway 66 to Union Cross Road.
  • On July 12, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from U.S. 52 to Hanes Mall Boulevard.
The following nightly closures are scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:
  • Tonight and July 10, the onramp from Highway 66 to I-40 West is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour.
  • Tonight and July 10, the exit ramp from I-40 West to Highway 66 is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour
  • On July 11, the exit ramp from I-40 West to Union Cross Road is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour
  • On July 12, the exit ramp from I-40 West to Hanes Mall Boulevard is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour
Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone and plan accordingly for delays.
