WALLACE – Maintenance crews with the N.C. Department of Transportation need to close a portion of N.C. 50 next week to replace two drainage pipes.
The highway between Lightwood Bridge and Sholar Mills roads is scheduled to close nightly at 8 p.m. on July 11 and 12 and reopen the following mornings at 6 a.m.
Traffic will be detoured onto Lightwood Bridge and Batchelor Bay/ Sholar Mill roads to access either side of N.C. 50. There will be message boards and signs reminding drivers of the work.
NCDOT encourages drivers to remain cautious and drive slowly near the closure and consider extra time that may be needed for travel.
