SPRING HOPE — Thanks to a new contract, N.C. 581 will have two sections resurfaced, along with more than 30 miles of secondary roads in Nash County.
N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded Barnhill Contracting Co. of Rocky Mount a $4.4 million contract.
The resurfacing of N.C. 581 will be in the vicinity of U.S. 64 in Spring Hope and total one mile. And 21 sections of various secondary roads totaling 37 miles also will be milled and resurfaced under the same contract.
The contractor may begin between August and October. The contractors will have about 18 months to complete the project.
