WINSTON-SALEM – Contract crews plan to close a lane along a stretch of Interstate 40 this weekend as part of ongoing work on the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.
Weather permitting, the left lane of I-40 East will be closed from I-74 (Exit 196) to west of Union Cross Road 9 p.m. Friday until no later than 5 a.m. Monday.
The lane closure will enable crews to safely work on temporary widening on the inside shoulder of the highway.
Drivers should anticipate this operation when approaching I-74 on I-40 East and be mindful of the crews working close to the travel lanes.
