NEW HOPE – A portion of a Wayne County road will temporarily close this week to allow N.C. Department of Transportation crews to replace a pipe.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, East New Hope Road between Mark Edwards and Millers Chapel roads will close. NCDOT crews plan to have the road east of Goldsboro closed for about two days.
If drivers need to access either side of the closure, they’ll be detoured onto New Hope, Central Heights, Thoroughfare and Millers Chapel roads. Crews have posted multiple signs for drivers to follow.
Due to the detour, drivers should expect their commute to take longer than normal and use caution when traveling near the work zone.
