Four-Month Culvert Replacement Starting Next Week in Rowan County

LANDIS – Weather permitting, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close a portion of a Rowan County road for about four months for a culvert replacement starting next week.

Beginning Aug. 22 at 9 a.m., Mountain Creek Contractors Inc. will close Kimball Road near Lake Corriher. The closure is necessary to allow crews to safely replace a single-span bridge over Grants Creek with a triple-barrel box culvert. Work is expected to be complete by late December.

During the closure, traffic will follow a signed detour using Patterson Street and South Main Street. Local traffic will still be able to access locations on either side of the project site up to the points of closure.

Motorists are reminded to slow down when approaching the work zone and allow extra time due to the detour.
