MARION – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will close the exit ramp from I-40 West to exit 81 at 10 p.m. to place traffic on Sugar Hill Road onto a new bridge, re-establishing access to entrance ramp for drivers.
This step is part of a larger interchange improvement project to replace the bridge on Sugar Hill Road over the interstate and improve adjacent intersections. The closure is anticipated to be in place for two weeks.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured to exit 86 (N.C. 226), continuing to W. Henderson Street.
