Nightly Closures Scheduled on I-40 in Forsyth County

​​WINSTON-SALEM – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will be implementing overnight lane and ramp closures along Interstate 40 for ongoing construction and maintenance projects starting tonight.

Weather permitting, the following closures are scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • On Sept. 13, one of two lanes is scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from N.C. 109 to east of the I-74/U.S. 311 interchange.
  • On Sept. 13-14, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from the U.S. 421/I-40 interchange to Stratford Road.
  • On Sept. 13-15, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from east of Hanes Mall Boulevard to west of Stratford Road.
  • On Sept. 14-15, 2 of 3 lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from west of Highpoint Road to west of the I-74/U.S. 311 interchange.​

Weather permitting, the following closures are scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:

  • From Sept. 14-15, the ramp from Stratford Road to I-40 West is scheduled to be closed with a detour.
  • From Sept. 14, the ramp from I-40 East to Stratford Road is scheduled to be closed with a detour.

​Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zones and plan accordingly for delays.
