WINSTON-SALEM – Additional overnight lane and ramp closures are planned for this week as part of the ongoing Interstate 40 pavement and bridge improvements project in Forsyth County.
Weather permitting, the closure schedule is as follows:
8 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday: One of two lanes of I-40 West from east of N.C. 66 to Union Cross Road and from High Point Road to west of I-74.
9 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday: The ramp from N.C. 66 to I-40 West – Drivers can use Old Salem or Shields roads to get to Union Cross Road to access I-40 West; and the ramp from I-40 West to Union Cross Road – Drivers should continue on I-40 West and take I-74 East to access Union Cross Road.
8 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday: One of two lanes of I-40 East from N.C. 109 to Highpoint Road, and one of two lanes of I-40 West from High Point Road to west of I-74
9 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday: The ramp from I-40 West to I-74 East is scheduled to be closed – Drivers should continue straight to N.C. 109 and head back on I-40 East to access I-74 East.
8 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday: Two of three lanes of I-40 West from U.S. 52 to west of Peters Creek Parkway.
9 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday: The ramp from I-40 West to Peters Creek Parkway – Drivers should continue to the Hanes Mall Boulevard exit and take I-40 East back to access Peters Creek Parkway.
Drivers should factor these detours into their commutes and be mindful of crews working alongside traffic in these areas.
