CHARLOTTE – This weekend, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will repair the bridge approach slab on I-277 over East Tenth Street, weather permitting. To safely perform the repairs, crews will close the entrance ramp from U.S. 74 (Independence Boulevard) West to the outer loop.
The closure will be in place from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12. Drivers on U.S. 74 West will be detoured to I-277 Inner, continuing to the East Sixth Street exit, then turning right to North Caldwell Street to access the outer loop entrance ramp. The left lane will remain open on the outer loop.
Drivers need to slow down and use extra caution while going through the work zone. They also need to pay extra attention to the road for their own safety, as well as any occupants of other vehicles and the construction crews in the area.
