Overnight Closures Planned for the Next Two Weeks at Airport Boulevard Overpass

MORRISVILLE – Work that is part of the improvements to the Interstate 40 and Airport Boulevard interchange will require a series of closures on I-40 for the next two weeks.

Starting March 28 at 8 p.m., a single lane will be closed in both directions on I-40 at the Airport Boulevard interchange. This will increase to a double lane closure at 10 p.m. and then a full closure at midnight as crews place girders on the new bridge over I-40.

At 5 a.m., I-40 will partially open back up, and the interstate will reopen fully by 6 a.m.

These closures are expected to occur every night for approximately two weeks.

During the full closures, traffic will be detoured off I-40 at the ramps to Airport Boulevard (Exit 284) and back down to the interstate on the other side of the interchange.

Motorists need to slow down and pay extra attention as they travel through the work zone.
