HICKORY – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $5.9 million contract to improve nearly 31 miles of Catawba County roads.
Contractor Maymead Inc. can start the project as soon as April 3 to mill, resurface and rebuild shoulders on sections of these primary roads:
- N.C. 10 from the Lincoln County line to Startown Road, approximately 15 miles
- U.S. 70 from N. Oxford Street to the Iredell County line, approximately five miles
Under the contract, crews will also resurface portions of 15 secondary roads throughout the county.
The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2024.
