2-Week Lane Reduction on I-285 Starting in Davidson County

WELCOME – The N.C. Department of Transportation will reduce lanes of a Davidson County highway next week to begin a two-week maintenance project.

Beginning May 23, a single lane of I-285 South will be closed daily from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. at alternating locations between mile marker 91 and N.C. 8. The closures are necessary to allow crews to repair sunken concrete slabs along the interstate. Crews will pump concrete grout under the sunken slabs to improve the alignment.

Work will only take place on weekdays and is expected to be complete by June 7, weather permitting. Message boards will be placed about two miles ahead of the new traffic pattern to alert drivers.

Motorists should plan for delays due to the new traffic pattern and use extra caution when driving through the work zone.
