THOMASVILLE– An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will implement a long-term lane closure on U.S. 29/70 in Davidson County for a bridge replacement project.
Starting today, U.S. 29/70 (previously Interstate 85 Business) will be reduced to one lane in both directions due to the construction of two new bridges.
All traffic will be detoured onto the southbound bridge heading into Davidson County until the new northbound bridge heading into Randolph County is complete.
All construction is expected to be complete in 2026.
Drivers are advised to use extra caution and plan accordingly for delays due to the detour.
