Proposed Improvements to U.S. 221 Alternate Between Rutherfordton and Spindale

STIP Number HL-0065

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to proposed improvements to U.S. 221 Alternate between Rutherfordton and Spindale. ​Proposed would upgrade ​intersections and implement a design that is accessible, safe, and convenient for all users. The project includes improvements along U.S. 221A (Charlotte Road/Main Street) from Maple Street to Oakland Road, spanning approximately 2.5 miles.

A public meeting is scheduled for:

The public may attend at any time during the public meeting hours, as no formal presentation will be made.​

Public Comment

NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments. The comments and information received will be taken into consideration as work on the project develops.

The opportunity to submit written comments will be provided at the meeting or can be submitted via phone, email or at NCDOT's public input portal by Nov. 12, 2024.
