Dr. Pamela Gibson Senegal is the president of Piedmont Community College, a position she has held since 2017.
Senegal is a lifelong educator who is committed to ensuring that educational opportunities are available to all communities. With more than 22 years of experience in both industry and education, she brings strengths in economic development and partnership creation. She recently completed the Aspen New President’s Leadership Fellowship program for 2020-21.
Her dedication to public service is seen in her volunteer work on various boards, including Person Memorial Hospital, Foreign Trade Zone #93, UNC Chapel Hill World View Council of Advisors, Carolina Small Business Development Fund, Roxboro Savings Bank and the Person and Caswell Economic Development boards. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Boy Scouts of America and her church.
Senegal earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and Spanish, a master’s degree in public administration and a doctorate in adult and community college education from North Carolina State University.
She has three sons, two of whom are Eagle Scouts, graduates of Hampton University and Winston-Salem State University, and both gainfully employed. Her youngest son is a ninth-grader at Piedmont Community College’s Person Early College for Innovation and Leadership.
