The N.C. Department of Transportation, in partnership with NC GO!, hosted the second annual N.C. Transportation Summit in Raleigh on Jan. 8-9, 2020. During general sessions, attendees heard from industry leaders and policymakers on topics ranging from autonomous vehicles and data security to examining how North Carolina will fund its transportation system in the future.
The keynote speech, delivered by international thought leader and RethinkX co-founder Tony Seba, addressed the various ways that the current transportation system will be disrupted and needing to adapt with the advent of new technologies.
In addition to the general sessions, summit attendees participated in a variety of breakouts. Topics included 3-D printing, using drones to deliver medicine and ensuring tomorrow’s workforce is fully prepared for new technology.
Attendees had an opportunity to visit more than 70 exhibitor booths from numerous transportation and technology businesses. Summit participants also were able to sit in the EHang air taxi, the first autonomous flying taxi to be flown in North America, and the CASSI, an autonomous shuttle that is being tested in North Carolina.
