The N.C Department of Transportation will host the
I-77 South Express Lanes Industry Forum to discuss the proposed project, including the Request for Qualifications, scheduled for release in August.
The forum will provide information to potential developers and contractors about the project and gather input from industry participants. The forum is being held on the eve of the annual
2025 N.C. Transportation Summit, Sept 3-4 at the Raleigh Convention Center.
The I-77 South Express Lanes project involves upgrading 11 miles of I-77 from the South Carolina state line to I-277/N.C. 16 (Brookshire Freeway). It includes adding express lanes, reconstructing interchanges and bridges, access points and direct connectors.
The project aims to manage traffic congestion by offering more reliable travel times, improving traffic operations, reducing congestion-related crashes, supporting economic growth, encouraging transit use and enhancing regional express lane connectivity.
