DOBSON — N.C. Department of Transportation crews from Surry County
will be working under the lights to repair a section of N.C. 89 later this
week.
They need to close a short section of N.C. 89 starting at 10 p.m.
on Thursday until sunrise the next morning to replace two pipes under the
highway near Low Gap.
The repairs will be conducted about 200 yards south of the
intersection with N.C. 18. The work will be performed at night to limit the
impact to traffic in the area. No detour will be posted for the one-night
closure.
“This work has to be done,” Surry County Maintenance Engineer Mark
Williams said. “There’s no easy or short detour, so we will get it all done in
one night.”
Transportation officials remind motorists to drive with caution,
obey all posted signs and slow down in work zones.
