Union County Road to Receive Two Roundabouts

MARVIN – Motorists will soon be able to drive through two roundabouts where New Town Road meets Marvin School Road and Waxhaw-Marvin Road, thanks to a $1.4 million contract awarded to Sealand Contractors Corp. of Charlotte.

The first roundabout will be built at the New Town Road/Marvin School Road intersection, requiring a six-week closure starting Monday, July 9. Motorists will be detoured from New Town Road to Crane Road, Rea Road, Marvin School Road, Joe Kerr Road and Marvin Road, returning to New Town Road.

When the first roundabout is complete and open to traffic, contract crews will close the New Town Road/Waxhaw-Marvin Road intersection for six weeks to build that roundabout. A detour will be posted for motorists along Marvin Road, Joe Kerr Road, Marvin School Road, New Town Road and Crane Road, returning to Waxhaw-Marvin Road.
