RALEIGH – Work that is part of the
Capital Boulevard bridge replacements project will require a weekend closure of
a section of the southbound lanes of the boulevard. Starting at 9 p.m. on
Friday, June 29, all southbound traffic will have to turn right at the Wade
Avenue exit. The closure will wrap up by 6 a.m. on Monday, July 2.
Southbound traffic diverted at Wade Avenue will have the option to
make a left turn and continue down North West Street to Peace Street or they can
make a right and stay on Wade Avenue.
Drivers heading east on Wade Avenue toward southbound Capital
Boulevard can turn right off the southbound ramp to reach North West Street to
get to the detour route.
The closure is dependent on weather and is subject to being
canceled if it rains.
Drivers are urged to slow down and pay attention as they approach
the work zone and travel along the short detour route.
Updated information on the project to replace the Wade Avenue ramp
bridge, and the Capital Boulevard bridge over Peace Street is available through
a variety of means, including the project
website, as well as the NCDOT Triangle twitter feed.
