DANBURY – N.C. Department of
Transportation contractors will close a portion of Dan George Road for seven
months in order to replace both the North Double Creek and South Double Creek
bridges just west of Danbury in Stokes County.
The
bridges no longer meet the needs of the traveling public.
The roadway will be closed between Moores Spring Road and Lynchburg
Road starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 9. Work is expected to be complete by
January 2019.
Local traffic will be able to access
homes from either end of the closure, but will not be able to pass beyond the
closure points on either side of the work area.
Drivers will use Moores Springs Road, Hanging Rock Park Road, Piedmont
Springs Road, N.C. 89/N.C. 8 and Lynchburg Road as the detour route.
Motorists should watch
signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed
limit.
