Railroad Work Requires One-Day Closures in Chatham County

Closures will be Friday

SILER CITY – Norfolk Southern Railroad has informed the N.C. Department of Transportation it will temporarily close two streets in downtown Siler City to improve its rail crossings.

The closures are scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 13, on West Third Street and West Raleigh Street, which are a few blocks apart. The railroad will replace the ties in the crossings, then repave the asphalt.

For the West Third Street closure, motorists should take North Second Avenue, West Fifth Street and Dogwood Avenue.

For the other closure, the public should use North Second Avenue, East Second Street and Dogwood Avenue.
