Members Reconfirmed to the NC Turnpike Authority Board of Directors

RALEIGH – Two members have been reconfirmed to serve on the N.C. Turnpike Authority Board of Directors.

Charles 'Chuck' L. Travis III: an award-winning architect, served as the Mayor of Cornelius following two terms as a Cornelius Town Commissioner. While Mayor he also served as the Vice Chairman of the N.C. Metropolitan Mayors Coalition. He previously served as the Chairman of the Lake Norman Transportation Committee and as a member of the local Metropolitan Planning Organization. Travis has also served on the Metropolitan Transit Commission. His term on the N.C. Turnpike Authority Board of Directors runs from 2019 to 2023.

James 'Jim' Walker: a practicing attorney mediator, Walker is the Turnpike Authority's delegate to the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO). He also attends Gaston-Cleveland-Lincoln Metropolitan Planning Organization meetings and Transportation Committee meetings at the N.C. General Assembly as an interested citizen. Walker graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA and from NC Central University School of Law with a JD, Summa Cum Laude. He serves on North Carolina Central University’s Board of Trustees. Walker's term on the N.C. Turnpike Authority Board of Directors runs from 2019 to 2023.

The nine-member Board of Directors consists of the secretary of the N.C. Department of Transportation, four members appointed by the governor, two by the president pro-tem of the N.C. Senate and two by the speaker of the N.C. House of Representatives.

The next N.C. Turnpike Authority Board of Directors meeting will take place Thursday, Aug. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the N.C. Department of Transportation, Room 608, 1 S. Wilmington St. Raleigh, NC 27601.
