RALEIGH – Thanks to a N.C. Department of Transportation pavement marking contract, a large portion of westbound Interstate 540 will be getting some fresh lane lines overnight next week.
Weather permitting, crews will mark lanes lines on I-540 between Glenwood Avenue (U.S. 70) and I-40 starting Monday, July 23, through Wednesday, July 25. All work will be performed at night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., allowing for normal traffic flow during the daytime hours.
No lane closures are expected; however, crews will be in slow, but constantly moving caravans while installing the long line markings. Drivers are urged to slow down and use extreme caution when approaching and passing the painting crews as they will be in the roadway.
Should inclement weather prevent crews from marking the lanes, work will be rescheduled accordingly.
