Public Meeting Set for Extending Fairview Road in Iredell County

MOORESVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting next week to present a project proposed to extend Fairview Road over I-77 to connect with Alcove Road in Mooresville. Interested citizens are invited to learn more about potential design alternatives and provide input on the project.

The town of Mooresville has been experiencing significant growth around the Interstate 77 interchange with Williamson Road (exit 33). The town proposed the project for funding through the department’s Strategic Mobility Formula, and the proposal scored favorably as a division need.

The meeting will be Thursday, July 31 at the Fairview United Methodist Church, 1430 Mecklenburg Highway from 4 to 7 p.m. NCDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project and answer questions, as no formal presentation will be made.

Anyone unable to attend the meeting will be able to submit comments by phone, mail or email through Aug. 31. Additional information about the project will be posted here as it becomes available.

The public may contact NCDOT Project Manager Ahmad Al-Sharawneh at aalsharawneh@ ncdot.gov; 919-707-6010; 1595 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C., 27699-1595.

NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this meeting. Anyone requiring special services should contact Tony Gallagher at 919-707-6069 or magallagher@ncdot.gov as early as possible so arrangements can be made.

Persons who speak Spanish and have a limited ability to read, speak or understand English may receive interpretive services upon request prior to the meeting by calling 1-800-481-6494.
