McKee Road Bridge Closing Monday in Orange County

ROUGEMONT – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will close the McKee Road bridge that crosses Buffalo Creek between Bunny Road and McBroom Road, while they replace the bridge in Orange County starting Monday, July 30.

Built in 1953, the 65-year-old bridge no longer meets the needs of the traveling public.

The roadway will close at 8 a.m. Work is expected to be complete by Friday, Jan. 4, weather permitting.

Local traffic will be able to access homes from either end of the closure. Eastbound and westbound traffic will use McBroom Road, Bill Poole Road and Cothran Road in opposite directions to detour.

Motorists should watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
