Concrete Repairs Prompt Closures on U.S. 52 Starting Monday

WINSTON-SALEM – Pavement repairs and replacements along the northbound lanes of U.S. 52 between Akron Drive and Hanes Mill Road will prompt lane closures starting Monday, July 30, in Winston-Salem.

“NCDOT crews will be inspecting and repairing aging concrete slabs in conjunction with ongoing resurfacing work in this area,” said Forsyth County Maintenance Engineer Kevin Neal.

Due to the nature of inspections and repairs, various lane closures will be in place starting at 6 a.m. Monday, and may last for several weeks. Lane closures are needed so that crews can safely work alongside traffic.

“While the entire highway will not close, drivers should anticipate slowdowns during their morning and afternoon commute while crews work to restore the roadway,” said Division 9 Engineer Pat Ivey.

Transportation officials remind motorists to stay alert and obey the posted speed limit when traveling through work zones.
