MEBANE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will close the N.C. 119 ramp onto eastbound Interstate 40/I-85 northbound for paving work from Friday night to Monday morning.

The paving work will be completed in preparations for the new Diverging Diamond Interchange being built as part of the N.C. 119 Mebane Relocation Project.

The work will require the ramp to close at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, until work is complete by 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6; weather permitting.

Northbound traffic will detour along South 5th Street and Mebane Oaks Road, and southbound traffic will detour utilizing Trollingwood Hawfields Road.

Transportation officials advise drivers to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Motorists should anticipate needing extra time while they travel through the project area.
